This Christmas is uncertain after a very hard 2020, but there is still time to do something really special together. Therefore, from Aurora Vigil-Escalera Art Gallery we wanted to support the Cocina Económica de Gijón with the realization on our website of an online Spanish Contemporary Art Auction between December 15 and 17. We invite you to be part of this Christmas collaboration; with total certainty this contribution will contribute not only to enrich your collections but also to a just and solidary cause.
The mission of the Asociación Gijonesa de Caridad - as the Cocina Económica de Gijón is officially known - has been, since its foundation in 1905, to meet the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing and social assistance of the most vulnerable population. Since the crisis reached our country in March, more than 900 people can eat and dine every day thanks to their constant work and effort. In order to help them to continue doing such a magnificent job, we will donate one hundred percent of the profits collected by the gallery.
With this gesture we also want to contribute to our artists, always generous and sensitive to the most just causes. Today they are also in a situation of great vulnerability due to the transformations that the art world is going through in such hard times. That is why on this occasion, as well as benefactors, they will also be beneficiaries, as they will receive a considerable percentage of the price of their works.
We will present a selection of works directly from artists represented by the gallery, such as: Isabel Muñoz, Dionisio González, Ismael Lagares, Pablo Armesto, Gorka García, Jorge Hernández, Gonzalo García, Herminio and David Rodríguez Caballero. We have also chosen some pieces from important private collections. Real treasures such as a material piece by Luis Feito from the sixties, an exquisite small-format sculpture by Jaume Plensa and interesting works by Juan Genovés and Luis Gordillo. Undoubtedly this is a set of iconic works, with a wide variety of formats, techniques and prices for all tastes and pockets. Perhaps this is your opportunity to acquire the work that you have been longing for so long for your collection, with which you will also be contributing a grain of sand in favor of our current situation.
