Anita Suárez de Lezo

Anita Suárez de Lezo (Madrid, 1980)

Anita studied design at Parsons school in New York, and then worked for several years in the fashion business. She deepened her learning with a master in graphic design which sparked her definitive passion for art.

Fashion, architecture and oriental minimalism influence her work and are projected on her creations with shapes and colors that reflect her optimistic personality.

All her works are an explosion of vitality and optimism. Her compositions are halfway between sculpture and painting. Her geometric and multidimensional forms and her use of a wide and vibrant range of colors characterize most of her works and make them highly recognizable.

In contradiction to the statism of geometric lines, the varieties of dimensions, colors, lines, and perspectives convey enormous dynamism and movement. The originality of her artworks, also resides in the very special materials that she uses, such as mirrors or 24K gold.

The creative cycle of all her works begins with small sketches that are outlined digitally, where the geometric figures and the play of planes take on a life of their own, like an origami; and continues with a handmade assembly of each piece.

The result is a planned work in which the author tries to create emotions from the simplicity of the shapes and the vividness of the colors.

Her main sources of inspiration include the use of color by Bridget Rilley and the geometries of Sol Lewitt, along with other authors such as Mark Rothko, Josef Albers or Barnett Newman.

Anita has exhibited at national contemporary art fairs such as Estampa, Justmad, SAM or ArtMadrid; and abroad at Kunstrai Amsterdam, Unfair Milan and at Art Karslrahe in Germany. She has done several collaborations with the french maison Louis Vuitton and one of her pieces has been recently acquired by the Museum of Contemporary Art Helga de Alvear.
